Wine Charms DIY Tutorial (Seriously Easy To Do!)
It happens to everyone–you go to a party, put your drink down, and then you can never find it again. Or you’re unsure which drink is yours and you don’t want to risk taking someone else’s. You can kiss that glass of wine goodbye as you go off to find something else to drink. It’s a bummer and, honestly, it’s a waste of a drink.
If you’re at a party with red solo cups at least, sometimes they have those cool chalkboard labels where you can write your name down and then you know for the rest of the night which drink is yours. But what happens if you’re at a dinner party or event where you’re not really drinking wine out of a solo cup? Unless you’re at a frat party, solo cups will be pretty unlikely.
The solution? Wine charms.
Wine charms are adorable little charms that go around the stem of your wine glass so you can tell which drink is yours for the rest of the night. You can use any kind of beads or charms to make yours, so this is a craft you can really customize to your liking!
One option is to make holiday-specific wine charms using festive colours and charms that match your theme (like candy canes for Christmas, or little pumpkins for Halloween). However, today’s tutorial will feature a basic every-day design that you can use for every occasion.
You don’t need many materials at all for this craft! All you’ll need is…
- A package of hoop earrings
- Beads (I chose clear beads so they wouldn’t clash with the colours of the charms)
- Charms of different styles/colours
Step 1. Decide on your design.
I decided to put four clear beads, the charm, and then another four beads again.
Step 2. Open up the hoop and slide through your beads and charm.
Step 3. Close the hoop back up.
And that’s how simple it is to makes these wine charms!
Using the hoop earrings makes creating these wine charms really easy. You can expand and contract the hoop as much as you want, adjusting the size to your preference.
Using different coloured charms, I followed the same process to make more hoops. I also tinkered with the amount of beads I used on some of the hoops so they looked more filled up.
I like both designs, and it’s really just up to personal preference! You can fill them up as much as you want, or keep them more simple and sparse.
The next time you’re drinking wine with company, now you don’t have to worry about whose glass you might’ve accidentally taken! These wine charms are practical, but also a really cute accessory to add to your get-together. All you have to do is unhook them, put it around the stem of the wine glass, and then close them back up.
